Enjoying gifts on a peaceful Christmas morning:
When it comes to reading, the kids are just as voracious as they've always been. After these last few chapters, perhaps we'll be able to talk them into eating breakfast.

Despite repeated attempts to persuade them that yes, Santa would be able to find his milk and cookies if we didn't leave them right under the tree, both kids remained unconvinced. (We'll omit the lengthy debate about whether a note or a map was needed, and whether it should go on/under/near the tree/chimney, etc.)
In the end, Maya opted for a large label ... and a little contextual advertising:

In this house, chapter books usually get read in one of two modes:Today's favorite book, however, was Seal Island School, which both kids wanted to read ... in the latter mode. Things got kinda loud there for a while, as they "debated" whose turn it was.
- One chapter at bedtime, to both kids.
- In one fell swoop, solo.
But this evening, after swapping around some cushions on the couch, they finally figured it out:

PS: As you can see, Bryn's currently on a kick to foil any and all attempts at candid photography.

Tonight, Maya made us a truly delicious fruit salad:... and one small container of the freshest, ripest raspberries we've tasted in a long, long time. Outstanding!
