Happy Birthday, Maya and Bryn!

Lately whenever the kids get balloons, it seems that Maya's always breaks. Maya usually bursts into tears, and Bryn, unprompted, usually offers her own balloon to her sister. In the latest version of this scene, Maya instantly perked up upon being offered the new balloon, grinning and running off to play with it. Seeing this, Bryn said

Mama, did you see how happy that made her?

I don't know whether to be proud of Bryn's thoughtfulness or worried that she's taking too much responsibility for her sister's happiness. The complexities of being a parent...

This week the kids did their first real dive. The trick? One foot goes on the edge of the pool with the toes curled over the edge while the other foot goes behind that foot. The kids then lift up the back leg and fall right in, head first!
