From last week's dinner/poetry slam:When I grow up I'm gonna make dolls for you that look like me so you can always remember me and not be lonely. Dedicated to her mother, Maya's improv here was so spontaneous that you could hear the pauses between each line.

As soon as we finished, we also had to transcribe Bryn's story:The story starts like this...
Once upon a time there was snow on the ground and it started to snow. And then I saw the jellyfish in Maya's story, and that jellyfish at night, she said "I'll make my house bigger" she whispered.
And then we woke up Maya quietly and we went to the park in Florida. And then after we were done we flew back quickly. First we made the house bigger and then we went to sleep. And then in the morning we played.
And then we made the house a little bigger because that night I had to curl up as tiny as I could because I was a little too small.
The next morning we went to a different dance. First we went to Maine to buy a dress, then we flew back. We went up to the stage and danced.
And then we sang and sang and sang after the dance. And before that we put singing clothes on.
THE END A further clarification from Bryn:This is partly a real story and partly not. All the words are real, but only the snow part really happened. I told the snow part because I just wanted to. Bummer. And we really wanted to borrow that jet of hers for our own use.

Maya's dream last night:It starts like this...
The shark and the whale and the crab were going to eat me. But the jellyfish saved me because I was gonna get eaten by those ones you already typed.
Then we went swam to the jellyfish's house. It was on the beach. Then my baby wanted to come so I went back home and I got my baby. I went in a boat to the jellyfish's house.
I got my computer and I played a game. We had lunch too, but not the whale and the shark and the crab. At the restaurant nearby they were selling ice cream, and we got some ice cream. We got strawberry flavored ice cream.
We walked on the beach and went on an adventure with this fish. I drove to the toothpaste bin, where we swam for a long time. On the way, in the boat, I played this game. I played ABCD and played catch me.
Then it was the middle of the day for lunch time and I changed clothes for the dance after lunch. And the jellyfish and the fish were watching. But the shark and the crab and the whale who were going to eat me didn't.
And then we played for the rest of the day. And then I slept with the jellyfish.
And then we played and played and played for all the days until I died.
THE END Additional comments from the narrator:I was scared when the shark and the whale and the crab were going to eat me. But then I felt happy because the jellyfish saved me. Note that this transcript was her second retelling of the dream.
